My sea turtles were made with Tjap stamps and water color on rice paper. This process is similar to batik. Tjap stamps, from Indonesia, are large intricate stamps made of copper that are set in melted wax and then stamped on the rice paper. Once the piece is finalized with water color and more wax it is ironed with a hot iron to remove the wax. Liz Miller of Artful Endeavors taught this class.
