During the snow this past week, I played with marbling watercolor paper with acrylics, watercolor and liquid starch. Very fun to watch the colors swirl and mix.

Silly Daffodils
As they do each year, my silly daffodils were fooled by the spring-like weather. They are so charming and delightful, I can hardly chastise them. Vain they are to be the first up and dressed in ruffles for the spring.

Snow Day Project
These pendants are made from materials that I already have in the house and in my stash. Washers, ink, nail polish, acrylic enamel, Triple Thick, wire, ribbon and a bit of this and that.
Catching Up
Oh my goodness. Has it really been since October that my blog was updated? I knew I was behind but.... Anyway here are some things I have been working on the past few months.
Altered postcards from Art of the Carolinas. The postcards from the beach are copies on cardstock of actual postcards that my hubby's grandparents sent back home from various vacations. It was a fun connection to look back. Visiting Paris is ephemera and layering on cardstock.

Beads Beads Beads
I was finding it difficult to locate beads I needed for a project. I needed a rainbow of color without the high cost. I had an economy bucket of "pearls" left over from a holiday project. I poured a batch in a disposable cup and added alcohol inks, a different color for each batch. What fun! I now have the colors I need with very little cost.

Tjap Batik Class
Some pieces from a workshop today at ArtfulEndeavors in Raleigh with the wonderful Liz Miller. We used Tjap (chop) stamps to apply intricate wax images onto rice papers and then used watercolor paints for color. Very fun and versatile art.

Sea Turtles
My sea turtles were made with Tjap stamps and water color on rice paper. This process is similar to batik. Tjap stamps, from Indonesia, are large intricate stamps made of copper that are set in melted wax and then stamped on the rice paper. Once the piece is finalized with water color and more wax it is ironed with a hot iron to remove the wax. Liz Miller of Artful Endeavors taught this class.

Collaged Valentine Card Cover
This is fun because either side works as the outside cover or the inside. I use a piece of vellum folded in half and add it to the inside for wording on these types of card covers
